Deprivation Of Liberty Charge At Stanthorpe

Detectives from Stanthorpe Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 30-year-old man following an alleged deprivation of liberty incident at Stanthorpe on March 3.

Around 1:20am, a 20-year-old woman was walking on Folkestone Street when it will be alleged the man approached her.

Police further allege he grabbed the woman and threw her over a nearby fence and pinned her to the ground.

The Stanthorpe man then fled on foot and the woman was taken to Stanthorpe Hospital for treatment.

Officers located and arrested the man yesterday, March 7 and charged him with one count each of assaults occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Warrick Magistrates Court today, March 8.

Detectives are urging anyone who has had similar experiences to come forward.
