Deputy Defense Sec. Hicks Meets Defense Business Board

Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks hosted the Defense Business Board's fourth quarterly meeting for fiscal year 2024 at the Pentagon on August 1-2 in closed, classified sessions.

During an evening discussion on August 1, Deputy Secretary Hicks briefed board members on the extensive effort that the Department undertakes every four years to ensure a seamless handover between administrations and appointed officials—from managing critical military operations to maintaining momentum on innovation and transformation initiatives.

The Deputy Secretary noted the preparation and coordination that takes place at all levels to support the rapid assumption of responsibilities by new officials of either political party, and the monitoring and accountability that she undertakes.

On August 2, board members provided recommendations based on themes from Defense Business Board studies since 2022. Deputy Secretary Hicks thanked the board members for their efforts on new studies and for sharing their insights to improve Department of Defense business practices.
