Deputy Defense Sec. Hicks Meets With Defense Board

Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks hosted the Defense Business Board's first quarterly meeting for fiscal year 2025 at the Pentagon today in a closed, classified session.

During the session, Deputy Secretary Hicks briefed board members on the Department's accomplishments since 2021 in reforming business processes, improving planning and budgeting, and driving innovation in capability development and acquisitions.

The Deputy Secretary noted the role of the Defense Business Board in providing the analysis and recommendations that drove some of these improvements, highlighting particular efforts in the areas of talent management, leveraging data, and customer experience.

Board members asked questions and provided recommendations based on their experience in the private sector, government, and academia. Deputy Secretary Hicks thanked the board members for their efforts on current and recently-completed studies and for sharing their insights to improve Department of Defense business practices.
