Deputy Defense Secretary Hicks Meets With Defense Business Board

Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks hosted the Defense Business Board's third quarterly meeting for fiscal year 2023 at the Pentagon today in a closed, classified session.

She was joined by the Director, Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (CAPE), Ms. Susanna Blume.

During the session, the Deputy Secretary and the CAPE Director briefed board members on the key strategic defense initiatives that underpin the President's Fiscal Year 2024 Budget.

The Deputy Secretary noted that the budget is aligned with the National Defense Strategy, recognizing the People's Republic of China as the pacing challenge. The budget request includes funding for the critical resources to keep our nation safe, while delivering a combat-credible Joint Force that is the most lethal, resilient, agile, and responsive in the world.

Deputy Secretary Hicks thanked the board members for dedicating their time and expertise toward improving Department of Defense business practices, governance, and culture.
