Homeland Security Advisor Dr. Liz Sherwood-Randall, Deputy Secretary of State Richard R. Verma, and General Laura Richardson met with Colombian Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva this week in Bogota. The U.S. delegation and Foreign Minister Leyva emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Colombia partnership to democracy, security, and human rights in the Western Hemisphere and the world. The U.S. delegation and the foreign minister also discussed efforts to humanely manage irregular migration and further strengthen our robust counternarcotics and security cooperation.
