I am pleased to confirm that Mr Derek Scott has been reappointed to the position of Chair of the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) Board.
Mr Scott, one of Australia's most highly regarded education leaders, will serve a second term of two years and two months as the ACARA Board Chair.
He was initially appointed as Board Chair in November 2021, and prior to that served as a member of the ACARA Board for 10 months.

Since 2007, Mr Scott has been Chief Executive Officer and Principal of Haileybury.
In his role as ACARA Board Chair, Mr Scott has proven invaluable in leading ACARA to successfully deliver major improvements in the education of Australian students, including:
- implementing changes to the National Assessment Program to ensure more precise data, earlier return of results and clearer reporting;
- developing and supporting the implementation of the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0;
- leading key actions from the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan in examining ways to support the implementation of the Australian Curriculum; and
- providing invaluable advice and support to the Education Ministers' Meeting to deliver national objectives.
I congratulate Mr Scott on his reappointment and look forward to continuing our work to create a better and fairer education system for all Australians.
