Kiama Council, through Destination Kiama, is providing more than $47,000 to a range of local events thanks to our Destination Events Funding Program

The Destination Event Funding Program supports events that attract visitors to Kiama in line with our Tourism Strategic Plan.

That means events outside peak tourism periods, that attract visitors outside our local area, encourages them to stay overnight and inspires them to visit again in the long term.

This fund aims to encourage sustainable practices to build long term capability and increase collaboration and partnerships to deliver stronger and beneficial outcomes for local events.

The amount recommended to support the seven eligible applicants in round one equates to $47,462.

Manager of Tourism and Events, Sally Bursell, said the Destination Events Funding Program supported festivals and events that attracted visitors from out of area and contributed to our local economy.

"Along with our prized annual events such as the Winter Wine Festival and KISS Arts Festival, we are thrilled to support new events such as DISTILLED at an exciting new venue in The Co-op in Gerringong, as well as welcoming back to our calendar The Kiama Readers Festival and Jamberoo Music Festival," Ms Bursell said.

The events to receive funding are:

  • Kiama Red Cross Fun Run - $1,220.00
  • 2025 Winter Wine Festival - $10,220.00
  • Kiama Coastal Classic - $3,000.00
  • Kiama Sevens 2025 - $12,500.00
