Destination: Wagga Wagga And Surrounds

The City of Wagga Wagga, Junee Shire and Coolamon Shire are about to play host to hundreds of delegates to the Destination and Visitor Economy Conference 2024.

The annual conference hosted by Local Government NSW (LGNSW), will take place at the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre from Tuesday 28 May - Thursday 30 May and will offer a range of site visits to surrounding areas.

The conference brings together council staff and elected officials from across the state to discuss the latest trends, technologies and opportunities in the tourism industry.

The conference will also be attended by the Hon. John Graham MLC, in his capacity as State Minister for the Arts, Minister for Music and the Night-time Economy, and Minister for Jobs and Tourism.

The Minister will address delegates on Wednesday morning and help present the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards, recognising excellence in the sector.

LGNSW President Cr Darriea Turley AM says the three day conference will be a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas and to showcase the beauty of the Riverina region.

"The Destination and Visitor Economy Conference is always one of our most popular events" says Cr Turley.

"It's great to see the continued growth of the visitor economy and I'm especially pleased to see the range of benefits this brings to our communities, particularly in rural and regional NSW."

"Our speakers include experts in marketing, data insights, government support and industry trends such as agritourism, culinary tourism and EV charging."

"The beautiful surrounds of Wagga Wagga, Junee and Coolamon will be showcased through a number of site visits and delegates will have the opportunity to visit iconic destinations such as the Junee Chocolate and Licorice factory, the historic 'Station Collective' in Coolamon, the beautiful Marrambidya Wetland and of course the fabulous Wagga Beach!"
