Specialist detectives have commenced an investigation into four armed robberies at service stations across Sydney's south-west overnight.
The incidents are believed to be linked and occurred in Yagoona, Narwee, Auburn and Lansvale, between 6.15pm and 9.30pm yesterday (Sunday 18 July 2021).
Initial inquiries into the incidents were conducted by local police, before the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took carriage of the investigations.
The incidents include –
- About 6.15pm yesterday (Sunday 18 July 2021), two men – armed with a baseball bat – entered a service station at Auburn Road, Yagoona. The men threatened an employee before stealing cash. The pair were last seen heading south on Auburn Road. Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were contacted and conducted an extensive search of the area; however, the men were not located.
- About 7.40pm yesterday, two men – armed with a baseball bat and a knife – entered a service station at Broad Arrow Road, Narwee. The men threatened an employee and demanded cash. When the employee refused, the men fled the area and were last seen heading toward Bryant Street. Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and conducted initial inquiries into the incident.
- An hour later, about 8.40pm yesterday, two men – armed with a baseball bat and a knife – entered a service station at Joseph Street, Lidcombe. The men threatened an employee and stole cash before fleeing the area. They were last seen heading south along Joseph Street towards Kerr Parade. Officers from Auburn Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into the incident.
- Just before 9.30pm yesterday, two men – armed with a baseball bat and a knife – entered a service station at The Hume Highway at Lansvale. The men threatened an employee and stole cash before fleeing the scene. The men were last seen running towards Hollywood Drive. Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and conducted initial inquiries.
In each of the incidents, the employees were not physically injured.
As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have dashcam footage from the areas at the time of the incidents, to come forward.
The men are described as being of medium build and were wearing dark-coloured clothing and face coverings.
Investigations are continuing.
