Detectives dig up drugs and cash in Morphett Vale backyard

Three people will face court today after detectives allegedly uncovered drugs and cash buried in the backyard of their Morphett Vale property.

On Saturday 15 January, Taskforce Southern investigators, a Major Crime operation into violence, crimes and suspected murders in the southern suburbs, assisted by STAR Operations and Serious and Organised Crime Branch, attended a Morphett Vale home.

Detectives conducted a comprehensive search of the house and garden, including digging up large sections of the rear yard.

It will be alleged detectives found approximately 616 grams of methamphetamine hidden in poly pipe buried in the garden. In a separate buried container officers found $50,870 in cash.

Detectives also seized jewellery and an e-bike, which they will allege are the proceeds of crime.

A 38-year-old man and his parents, a 62-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, all from Morphett Vale, were arrested and charged with trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possessing prescription drugs and money laundering. They were refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today, Monday 17 January.
