Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for assistance from the public following an attempted armed robbery and an armed robbery in Wyndham Vale.
Officers have been told a man attended a kiosk on Armstrong Road about 6am on Thursday 2 February.
He approached a female staff member, demanded cash and threatened her.
The woman refused to comply and the man walked off.
He then walked to a nearby fast-food restaurant on Ballan Road, rushed inside and grabbed a staff member who was cleaning the store.
She was forced to the front counter and the man held a knife to her while demanding other staff members hand over cash.
They complied with his demands and he then left the store.
Fortunately no one was injured in either incident.
The offender is perceived to be Caucasian, approximately 165 centimetres tall with a medium to large build.
At the time of the offence he was wearing a faded blue hooded top, black pants and black shoes.
Investigators have released an image and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquires.
