Detectives Investigate Carjacking In Lucas

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following an aggravated carjacking in Lucas last month.

Detectives have been told a 21-year-old woman was travelling with a male associate, in a Hyundai i30, when she was asked to make a stop in Lucas Lane on Thursday 20 March about 3.15am.

As the car came to a stop the young woman, who was driving the vehicle, noticed two men walk towards the vehicle.

She tried to drive off but was stopped by her passenger, before she was dragged from the vehicle by the two other men and physically assaulted.

It is believed her passenger, and the two offenders fled the scene in the victim's Hyundai.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Hyundai was located burnt out near Lake Burrumbeet about 30 minutes later.

Detectives believe the three men involved are known to one another.

The pair were driving what has been described as a dark coloured Holden sedan and were wearing all black and balaclavas.
