Swan Hill Rural City Council's upcoming 'Detox Your Home' event has been cancelled.
The household chemical collection service was scheduled to come to Swan Hill on Saturday, 5 March from 9am to 12pm.
Council's Director Infrastructure Svetla Petkova said the event was being held in partnership with Sustainability Victoria and due to a lack of local interest, it would not be going ahead.
"Unfortunately, due to a lack of registrations the event has been cancelled by Sustainability Victoria.
"In order to safely dispose of unwanted toxic chemicals at Detox Your Home events a number of specialised chemists are required and unfortunately on this occasion this event was not deemed viable," Ms Petkova said.
Detox Your Home is administered by Sustainability Victoria in partnership with local governments and is funded by the Victorian landfill levy. The products collected are recycled for recovery and diverted from landfill.
