Devonport volunteers will have the opportunity to be formally recognised for their invaluable contributions to the community as part of National Volunteer Week, held from 19-25 May 2025. This year's theme, Connecting Communities, highlights the vital role volunteers play in strengthening and supporting local connections.
Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman is encouraging organisations and community groups to nominate dedicated volunteers who give their time selflessly to support the city of Devonport.
"National Volunteer Week is a chance to celebrate and acknowledge the many individuals who make a difference in our community," Mayor Jarman said.
"As Mayor, I have seen firsthand the incredible impact volunteers have, not only on the organisations they support but on the lives of so many within our community. Their generosity, dedication, and kindness help make Devonport a better place for all."
To celebrate volunteers, Council is once again offering certificates of recognition to acknowledge their contributions over the past 12 months.
Nominations close 5pm on Tuesday, 6 May 2025, and can be submitted via Council's website at: http://www.devonport.tas.gov.au/council/forms-and-payments/volunteer-week
If submitting multiple nominations, organisations are encouraged to upload a list in Excel or Word format via the online form. Once certificates are ready, organisations will be contacted for collection from Council's Customer Service counter at the paranaple centre, Level 2, 137 Rooke Street, Devonport.
