Devonport has been named Australia's Top Tourism Town for 2024 at the National Top Tourism Awards.
Premier and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Jeremy Rockliff, said Devonport is a worthy winner.
"Devonport is the vibrant hub of the iconic Cradle Mountain region, an ideal launchpad for day trip exploration and its newly developed waterfront precinct," Premier Rockliff said.
"Our regional communities have some of the best tourism experiences Tasmania has to offer, ranging from agritourism, history and heritage, arts and culture, along with natural landscapes and attractions found nowhere else in the world."
Tassie took out gongs in two other categories, with Richmond claiming Bronze in the Small Town category and Stanley awarded Silver in the Tiny Town category.
"Tasmania's tourism industry is one of our great success stories, employing one in eight Tasmanians, supporting our economy and contributing to our way of life," Premier Rockliff said.
"Visitors come to Tasmania to enjoy unique and authentic experiences where they can meet a producer, learn about the history behind a product and get a taste for farm life, and that's exactly what these award-winning towns offer."
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are investing an additional $12 million to deliver the 2030 Visitor Economy Strategy.
Hosted by the Australia Tourism Industry Council in Canberra, the national awards are determined by a national judging panel and incorporates consumer review scores for tourism products within each town.
