Dino-Mite Exhibit Roars Into Perth Zoo This Holiday

  • Life-size dinosaur experience, Zoorassic Park, now open
  • Exhibition to inspire next generation of wildlife conservationists
  • New baby squirrel monkey also swinging into action

Roaring good times are on offer for families at Perth Zoo these April school holidays with the arrival of the immersive Zoorassic Park dinosaur experience.

Zoorassic Park lets visitors come face-to-face with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, meet a real-life dinosaur keeper and even dig for fossils in the 'playleontology pit'.

The exhibition will provide interactive family fun for all ages, while also raising awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and preventing extinction.

The dinosaurs are not the only new arrival for zoo-goers to discover, with an adorable baby bolivian squirrel monkey also making his debut, welcomed recently through Perth Zoo's important conservation work.

Families will be delighted to spot the new addition exploring the world around him in the Amazonia habitat.

Following a public naming competition, Miski has been declared the newcomer's name, which translates to 'sweet' in Aymara, the native language in Bolivia.

Perth Zoo works closely with other zoos around the country and in New Zealand to breed and care for squirrel monkeys which are often victims of illegal wildlife trade.

Zoorassic Park is included in general admission to Perth Zoo and will run beyond the April school holidays, with more dinosaurs being added to the pack in the coming months.

Just as the living zoo changes, these prehistoric creatures will change throughout the exhibition. A zoo membership offers the best value for families to visit multiple times and see the collection evolve.

As stated by the Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

"A visit to Perth Zoo is a must-do for many Western Australian families over the school holidays.

"It provides our community with the opportunity to be transported to other habitats and environments, and now it will take you back in time to the prehistoric ages through this awesome exhibition.

"Not only is Zoorassic Park a great way to entertain the kids, but it carries an important educational message for the next generation of wildlife conservationists.

"Many of the animals at Perth Zoo share characteristics with the dinosaurs, but extinction doesn't have to be one of them and we all have a role to play in protecting our wildlife."
