- Tickets for All Nippon Airways' direct route between Tokyo and Perth are now on sale
- Tokyo to Perth flights will resume on 29 October, with three flights per week
- Direct flights are supported by the Cook Government, through Tourism Western Australia, in partnership with Perth Airport
Japanese visitors, students and businesses will soon be able to travel direct to Western Australia with flights between Tokyo and Perth now on sale.
The All Nippon Airways' (ANA) direct service will resume on October 29 with three flights per week.
The resumption of the Tokyo to Perth route coincides with the traditional peak demand period, with 40 per cent of all visits from Japan to Western Australia occurring between October and December.
It also mirrors the successful launch of the direct flights between Tokyo and Perth in September 2019.
Before the pandemic hit, Japan represented Western Australia's eighth largest international market by number of visitors, with 38,800 visitors spending an estimated $71 million in the State in 2019.
As of March 2023, the number of Japanese visitors to WA was sitting at 61 per cent of pre-pandemic figures, with that number expected to increase through the resumption of ANA's direct flight.
Tourism Western Australia will gear up marketing efforts through integrated campaigns with key distribution partners and ANA ahead of the resumption of the direct flight.
The Western Australian Government's Aviation Recovery Fund, announced in December 2021, has helped secure 14 new and reinstated direct flights to Perth as it cements the State's reputation as the Western Gateway.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"Our Government and partners have worked hard to bring back these direct flights to reinforce WA as the ideal destination when it comes to travel, business and study.
"The resumption of the flights will better connect WA as the Western Gateway to the world and maintain a strong and stable pipeline of opportunities and jobs between Western Australia and Japan.
"I want to acknowledge everyone's involvement in bringing these direct flights back. I look forward to further strengthening our relationship with Air Nippon Airways as we look at growing these direct flights and leveraging export opportunities to promote our fresh produce in Japan."

"With Japan representing a significant visitor market for Western Australia, we will be working closely with Air Nippon Airways to ensure the success of these flights.
"Since the announcement of our Aviation Recovery Fund in 2021, we have secured 14 new and reinstated direct flights between Perth and international destinations, but we are continuing to look for opportunities to grow that number and cement Western Australia's reputation as the Western Gateway to the country."
