Director to retire from IAG Board

IAG has announced Jon Nicholson's decision to retire from the Board of Directors on 9 October 2024.

Mr Nicholson joined the IAG Board in September 2015 and served on three Board Committees: the People and Remuneration Committee, the Nomination Committee and the Risk Committee. During these terms, he was Chair of the People and Remuneration Committee, and Chair of the Risk Committee.

IAG Chair Tom Pockett said Jon has made a significant contribution to the group.

"During his time on the Board, Jon helped oversee IAG's response to very significant natural disasters in Australia and in New Zealand, including some of the largest earthquakes, bushfires and floods ever experienced," Mr Pockett said. "Like all of IAG's Directors, he was proud to be involved in a company that helps people and communities in these circumstances, as well as in times of normal insurance operations.

"As Chair of the Risk Committee Jon oversaw a significant uplift in the risk capabilities of the company. He also provided considered input and insight regarding strategic and reinsurance risks.

"We also benefited from skills he brought from his extensive community involvement, including work with indigenous communities in Cape York in Far North Queensland, and with the Social Change Fellows program of the Westpac Scholars Trust," Mr Pockett said.

The Board of IAG thanks Jon for these and other valuable contributions in his time as a Director.

Mr Nicholson was last re-elected to the IAG Board at the 2023 Annual General Meeting and at the time, flagged this would be his final term as a Director of the company.
