Disaster assistance has been made available for communities in the local government area of Carrathool who were affected by floods in mid-April.
Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Federal Minister for Natural Disaster and Emergency Management David Littleproud said the floods had disrupted transport networks across the Riverina region.
"Heavy rain and flash flooding resulted in road closures and restricted access," Minister Littleproud said.
"This road network is the second largest rural road network in New South Wales and we need to get it back up and running to support the local agricultural industry.
"This funding will help cover the costs to ensure repairs are done as quickly as possible."
Member for Farrer and Minister for the Environment Susan Ley welcomed the assistance.
"I know this event had a dramatic impact on a number of roads in the shire, particularly from Goolgowi towards Rankin Springs, and back towards Yenda.
"Every council budget is tight, so I am pleased the Federal Government can assist in helping to repair the damage, and hopefully this can happen as soon as possible."
NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott said the funding will support recovery operations and the repair of flood damaged assets.
"Communities in the Riverina region were significantly impacted by heavy rain and localised flash flooding," Minister Elliott said.
"The Commonwealth and New South Wales governments are committed to ensuring Carrathool Shire are supported in their recovery."
