Disaster recovery assistance is now available in Narrabri Shire, New South Wales following a severe weather event on 30 September 2021.
Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie said a destructive storm and a tornado swept through the Yarrie Lake area on the south east of Narrabri.
"Large hail and intense winds caused widespread damage across the Narrabri area, bringing down trees and closing roads," Minister McKenzie said.
"The disaster assistance will provide a range of practical assistance measures to help council, individuals, primary producers, small businesses and charities to get back on their feet.
"We continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with these communities to assist in repairing the damage caused by these events."
New South Wales Minister for Police and Emergency Services the Hon David Elliott said the event had required a significant response from Narrabri Shire Council with assistance from NSW State Emergency Services.
"The assistance being announced today will help cover the costs associated with repairing damaged essential public assets," Minister Elliot said.
"Additionally, concessional interest rate loans will be available for small businesses and primary producers who were impacted by the event."
Assistance available under the DRFA may include:

- Support for affected local councils to help with the costs of cleaning up and restoring damaged essential public assets
