Cessnock City Council invites the community to an engaging talk with acclaimed author Wayne McLennan, who will discuss his latest book 'Coal Town' at the Cessnock Library on Saturday 2 November 10.30am – 11.30am.
Cessnock local Wayne McLennan is renowned for his works such as New York Times noteworthy 'Rowing to Alaska', and 'Tent Boxing,' which received a long-list nomination for the William Hill Best Sport Book award.
His latest book 'Coal Town' tells the captivating story of the rise and fall of an Australian mining community, chronicling a time shaped by hardship and danger, while examining the powerful influence of unions.
Library Services Coordinator Rose-marie Walters expressed her excitement about the event.
"'Coal Town' captures the rich tapestry of our local history and the resilient spirit of those who lived it," said Ms Walters.
"We invite our community to take part in this unique experience, reflecting on our past and celebrating the narratives that shape us."
This free event promises insightful discussions about McLennan's work and its significance, along with the opportunity to purchase signed copies of "Coal Town" for $25.
