An annual art exhibition showcasing the talents of high school students in the City of Logan and surrounds is now open at Logan Art Gallery.
The Artwaves 2024, Logan and adjacent areas secondary schools art exhibition runs until Saturday, October 19.
Now in its 32nd year, the exhibition features almost 300 students from 31 schools.
The works by students from grades 7 to 12 are selected by local visual arts teachers in conjunction with gallery staff.
Works by a trio of year 12 students from Park Ridge State High School - Mackenzie Tait from North Maclean, Sienna Considine from Greenbank and Xin Weng from Regents Park - are included in this year's exhibition.
Each of the students have previously exhibited at Artwaves and are excited about having their works hung publicly again and sharing what they have produced with family and friends.
Mackenzie has created a striking painting based on an old photograph of her mum Lorraine and late grandmother Alice.
"I love family and generally paint people I know," she said.
Sienna said she was inspired by mythology and experimenting with colour palettes and different mediums with one of her paintings taking six months to complete.
Xin, who is completing a drawing course with Griffith University, said she had explored subtle colour combinations and used different layering techniques in her artworks.
