Disqualified Driver Faces High-Range Drink Driving Charge

A man has been charged over an alleged drink driving incident in the state's south.

About 9.50pm on Saturday 29 March, an officer attached to Murray River Police District was driving along Conargo Road, Conargo, when he located a utility vehicle being driven dangerously.

A short time later, the vehicle stopped as directed by police.

The driver – a 74-year-old man – was subject to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Deniliquin Police Station where a secondary breath analysis returned a reading of 0.150.

Subsequent checks revealed he is a disqualified driver until 2028.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He is due to appear before court in early April.
