In line with the construction sector shutdown, works on all transport projects in metropolitan Melbourne, City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire and Mitchell Shire will cease for the next two weeks.
Despite these works no longer going ahead, road and public transport projects may still cause some disruption for motorists and passengers.
Road projects will have active traffic management in place for the safety of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
Public transport will continue to run replacement services through areas of the network where it's not possible to run services due to closed construction sites.
In addition, while the shutdown is in place, a small number of workers may be on site to perform some limited, critical maintenance works to ensure safety for workers and the travelling public.
The Department of Transport urges everyone travelling for one of the five permitted reasons to plan ahead and allow extra time.
