A seven-day statewide police operation caught 161 inattentive and distracted drivers.
Operation Fatal Distraction, which focused on mobile phone use and other behaviours that take driver attention away from the road, was conducted between Monday 8 and Sunday 14 May.
A similar operation in February netted 110 drivers.
Superintendent Darren Fielke, Officer in Charge, Traffic Services Branch said each of these distracted drivers represents a significant risk on our roads.
"There is absolutely no excuse to use your phone while driving and, if it can't wait, then pull over.
"Even though Operation Fatal Distraction is now over, police will continue to target distracted drivers and other behaviours that contribute to road trauma."
