Join us at Waniassa Park on Saturday 26 October from 6pm for a Diwali Mela celebration in Queanbeyan!
'We are so excited to be hosting the Queanbeyan Diwali Mela Lantern Festival with our community,' said Mayor Kenrick Winchester.
'Last year was such an incredible event with so many people enjoying the atmosphere and celebrating together.'
'This year there's something for everyone with Queanbeyan Multicultural Centre running kids activities and Southern Tablelands Arts hosting a free lantern making workshop where you can make your own lantern before joining the lantern parade from 8:30pm.'
'There will also be a best dressed competition on the night so there's every reason to come in your most vibrant Diwali clothes.'
'We have some incredible performers showcasing traditional and more modern dance including Nepali, Bollywood and Bhangra dancers as well as drummers and a DJ to really complete the evening.'
'Our partners at SBS will be with us on the night to hear and share stories, and you can take advantage of the instant photo booth to capture your memories on the night.'
'We have a selection of incredible food vendors offering African BBQ, Sri Lankan Street food, delicious Nepali Mo Mo's, gelato, Indian sweets and an amazing array of North Indian Street food and traditional Indian favourites.'
'You can buy some beautiful Diwali themed items, pick up some freebies and indulge with a henna tattoo - so make sure you get in early to take in everything the night has to offer.'
