Victoria returns to Sheffield Shield action this weekend, with Harry Dixon named in its 13-player squad for Saturday's match against Tasmania at Bellerive Oval.
Chris Rogers' side will be searching for its fourth win of the season as Victoria looks to strengthen its grip on the top two with just four matches remaining.
Marcus Harris will look to continue his excellent domestic season alongside the emerging Campbell Kellaway, who has scored an impressive 352 runs.
Will Sutherland has been named for his first four-day match in the navy blue since November's clash against South Australia.
Victoria's captain recently starred with the ball for Australia A taking 3/7 against the England Lions. Joining Sutherland will be Australia A teammate Fergus O'Neill, who has taken a competition leading 22 wickets from 6 matches in 2024/2025.
Meanwhile, the talented Harry Dixon is in the mix to make his first-class debut after starring for Victoria's Second XI side last week, scoring 130 and 54 runs against South Australia's Second XI.
Speaking on radio ahead of the trip south, Sutherland said excitement was high, as Victoria prepared for its first four-day match in almost two months.
"It's always a great time of year to come back to Shield cricket, back in blue as we like to call it," said Sutherland.
"We bleed Victoria and can't wait to get back amongst each other and finish the season strong.
"We're really excited for Harry (Dixon), who obviously made his Big Bash debut and then followed it up with a century in the seconds. Even at training today, he was smashing me around the nets, so he looks a million dollars and if we do go an extra batter in Tasmania, he might be in line for a debut which is great for Victorian cricket."
Victoria face Tasmania at Bellerive Oval in Round 7 of the Sheffield Shield from February 8 – 11 with play beginning at 10:30 AM (AEDT). The match can be seen live on Kayo Sports and cricket.com.au
