A Box Hill woman is speechless with excitement after her support of a worthy cause turned into a life-changing $250,000 prize in the Play For Purpose Raffle.
The long-time supporter of Musculoskeletal Health Australia (MHA) says she was thrilled to discover she won the raffle's first prize package.
The $250,000 First Prize Pack from Play For Purpose Raffle 23, drawn Friday 14 June 2024 included a Volkswagen California Beach worth $115,824, $120,000 worth of cashable gold bullion and gift vouchers to the value of $14,176.
“Oh my god!” the Victorian cheered when an official from Play For Purpose revealed her win.
“I can barely breathe right now!
“That’s amazing! I was just looking at the website and prizes yesterday.
“I’m a long-time supporter of Musculoskeletal Health Australia.
“In fact, I have a repeat membership in the Play For Purpose draws, always supporting Musculoskeletal Health Australia.
“It stood out to me when I first bought a ticket as I have arthritis myself and I’ve stuck with them ever since.
“I can’t wait to call my husband and daughters!
“It’s funny, I’m always getting teased about my raffles. Now I can say they’re definitely worth it.
“It’s even more wonderful that they go towards good causes.”
When asked how she planned to use her newfound treasure, the gleeful woman was too stunned to make any immediate decisions.
“Honestly, my brain’s not working right now. I’m very overwhelmed so I’m not quite sure yet,” she said.
“We’re retirees so I think this will be a lovely opportunity to do some travel.
“Thank you so much! I'll get the family together to celebrate!”
Musculoskeletal Health Australia (MHA) CEO Helen Jentz said she was almost as excited as the winning MHA supporter.
“We were blown away that one of our incredible supporters was the winner of the major prize,” she said.
“And what an amazing prize! ‘Hitting the road’ in their new campervan will be fantastic for exploring this great country of ours and keeping active – all great things for someone living with arthritis!
“MHA relies on the amazing support of everyone who purchases tickets in the Play For Purpose raffle to continue to deliver free services and information to help the millions of Australians living with arthritis, back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions.”
Other major prize winners were from across Australia, including Rosedale in Victoria, Forde in the Australian Capital Territory, Ocean Grove in Victoria and Shailer Park in Queensland who won second, third, fourth and fifth prize packages in support of Heart Research Australia, Coeliac Australia and LifeFlight Foundation Ltd.
