Do You Want Cross-Peninsula Bus Service?

Bus service and people.jpg

In 2020, Mornington Peninsula Shire launched its Better Buses campaign, where more than 90,000 responses called for better bus services on the Mornington Peninsula.

In 2022 we continued our strong advocacy in the lead up to the state election where 82 per cent of respondents to a shire poll voted YES for a cross-Peninsula bus service.

While small gains were made from the public response with route improvements and a faster service on the Port Phillip side, incredibly in 2024, there is still no cross-Peninsula bus service. But there is hope.

The Victorian Government is developing plans to improve public transport in the Mornington, Hastings and Tyabb areas by introducing a new bus route, more direct route paths and better connections.

The proposed changes are:

  • Introducing a new bus route connecting Hastings and Mornington via Tyabb
  • Routes 784 and 785 path changes in Mornington
