Doctors' Forum Reviews Exam and Assessment Feedback

Australian Medical Association

AMA CDT Chair Dr Sanjay Hettige has provided an update from the latest CDT trainee forum.

The AMA Council of Doctors in Training hosted its second trainee forum of the year last week bringing together Trainee Chairs from the Medical Colleges to discuss examination and assessment feedback.

Poor examination feedback is a persistent bugbear for trainees with only 38 per cent of trainees saying they received useful examination feedback in the 2023 Medical Training Survey.

Dr Hettige said attendees at the forum had an insightful discussion on how Colleges are responding to these MTS results as well as a broader discussion on how Colleges could learn from each other to improve assessment and examination processes across the board.

The trainee forum continues to provide a valuable space for trainee committee chairs to share knowledge of what works and what doesn't within their College education programs.

"We look forward to continuing the dialogue and providing expertise where needed to improve the trainee experience across all Medical Colleges," Dr Hettige said.
