The Tasmanian Liberal Government has launched the community consultation process for the $25 million upgrade of Dodges Ferry Primary School, as part of our Next 100 Days Plan.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the upgrades will provide additional learning environments and new amenities for students and staff to enjoy.
"Our Government is committed to providing Tasmanian students with contemporary and fit-for-purpose facilities needed to thrive at school," Minister Palmer said.
"The Dodges Ferry community is expanding rapidly, and the school's redevelopment will provide new learning environments and outdoor and play facilities, to cater for the school's growing population.''
Liberal Member for Prosser, Kerry Vincent, encouraged the local community to have their say on the redevelopment.
"The consultation process provides students, staff and the community an opportunity to review the draft site master plan and contribute ideas and feedback," Mr Vincent said.
"I'd like to encourage locals to get involved in the consultation process, which includes an online survey and community workshops."
The proposed upgrades include new general learning areas, library space, administration and support areas, reconfigured school pick up, drop off zone and carpark, and entry forecourt.
The Department for Education, Children and Young People's Get Involved consultation process closes on 27 September 2024.
The Department will shortly release the tender for the project's architectural consultant, and the feedback received through the consultation process will be provided to the architects and the project team to inform the design process.
Work at the school is expected to commence in 2026 and be completed in 2028.
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're investing $188 million for a School Building Blitz that will deliver upgrades at 15 schools across the state, including Dodges Ferry Primary School.
