Dog Registration Fee Update

Dog Registration Fee Update
New dog registration fees for 2021/2022

For the past five years we have been able to avoid any increases to dog registration fees. However, due to increasing costs we need to pass on a small increase for 2021/2022.

You may not know that all dog registration fees received by council are entirely re-invested into dog management in Playford. This includes maintaining dog parks, education programs (ie; pop-up stalls in shopping centres), handling compliance issues (such as barking or aggressive dog reports), hosting micro-chipping days, and catching, taking care of, and getting your wandering dogs home as quickly as possible.

Although the fees are going up, there are ways to decrease this cost by ensuring your dog falls into the Standard Dog category ie; they are desexed and microchipped. And if you are a concession card holder, discounts will still apply.

A full list of new rates will be released at the end of the financial year, but the base rates are as follows:

2021/2022 Rates

  • Non Standard Dog - $75
  • Standard Dog (desexed and micro-chipped) - $37.50

Rates for Concession Holders

  • Non Standard Dog - $37.50
  • Standard Dog (desexed and micro-chipped) - $18.75

*Concessions include recipients of Age Pension, Disability Support, JobSeeker, Parenting Payment etc

Further discounts may apply for a dog that is trained (this requires a recognised trainers certificate.)
