Sunshine Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continue to investigate several incidents of domestic violence and are reminding the community police will not tolerate this behaviour, Queensland Police say.
In February, police investigated four separate incidents of alleged strangulation offences which occurred at Moffatt Beach, Glass House Mountains, Bli Bli and Maroochy River.
Police have charged three men, and investigations are continuing into the fourth incident.
Officer in Charge of the Sunshine Coast CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Daren Edwards said police would show zero tolerance towards offenders.
"There has been a significant increase in the number of strangulation type offences being investigated by Sunshine Coast officers," Senior Sergeant Edwards said.
"Domestic violence often occurs behind closed doors, but I want to stress to the community that police are here to help and will use the full force of the law to bring offenders to justice."
A 24-year-old Glass House Mountains man is due to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on April 5 charged with choking and assault occasioning bodily harm.
