Lake Macquarie not-for-profits and community groups are set to share in about $30,000 worth of donation funding following tonight's Standing Committee meeting.

Lake Macquarie councillors recommended 16 applications for a total of $31,931.40 under the Donations Program for a range of beneficial local projects.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said Council was proud to support groups delivering great outcomes for the community.

"From sports to health, support services and more, a broad spectrum of the community will be empowered to enrich the lives of local people as a result of this funding," she said.

"As a Council we are proud to support community groups to access the funding they need to continue servicing our city and making positive change."

Among the recommended recipients are Lakes Salvos to assist with their Community of Hope program, offering essentials to those struggling in the community, as well as an information and awareness campaign from Hunter Wildlife Rescue.

Southlakes Incorporated was recommended for funds to deliver Christmas hampers to those less fortunate, and the Hunter Adults Financial Collaborative's resume writing and interview techniques course to help disadvantaged community members secure employment was also backed.

In other agenda items Lake Macquarie councillors approved a planning proposal to rezone part of 130 Munibung Road and part of 30 Mackenzie Parade, Boolaroo from C2 Environmental Conservation to R2 Low Density Residential.

The rezoning could allow for up to 22 additional residential lots in the Lake Macquarie North-West Catalyst Area development precinct.

The strategy details two decades of growth opportunities for Teralba, Speers Point, Boolaroo, Cockle Creek, Argenton, Glendale and Cardiff, projecting more than $6 billion in annual economic output.

Councillors also recommended selling a parcel of land at 36 Watt Street, Windermere Park as it is surplus to its needs.

The full agenda and reports are available at meeting agendas and minutes.

The stream of tonight's meeting will be available online at lakemac.com.au within 48 hours.
