Murray River Council's Draft Community Strategic Plan 2025-2035 (CSP) is now on display and available for public comment.
The CSP is the council's 10-year roadmap that outlines the community's goals for the area and the key strategies needed to achieve them. The CSP guides the development of Council's plans, policies, budget and program of works.
Last updated in the 2021/22 year, the CSP must be reviewed after every ordinary council election.
Murray River Council Mayor, John Harvie said the new council are now working to refresh the CSP ready for implementation in the 2025/2026 year.
"Our draft Community Strategic Plan builds on the foundations of the previous strategies and goals that were identified through the extensive CSP engagement undertaken in 2022."
"With many of the ideas and themes still relevant, this latest version of the CSP represents a refresh of the existing document rather than a complete redevelopment, ensuring continuity and alignment with ongoing community priorities," he said.
The seven key themes of the current Community Strategic Plan still remain, being:
- A place of environmental sensitivity
- A place of progressive leadership
- A place of liveable communities
- A place of inclusion, culture and wellbeing
- A place of prosperity & resilience
- Connected Communities
- Tomorrow's Technologies
"The CSP is a really important step in Council's decision-making and planning process because it guides all the other plans we need to introduce, such as our yearly program of works," Cr Harvie said.
"We will also begin working on a new 4-year Delivery Program in the new year, which translates all the goals listed in our Community Strategic Plan into projects and actions."
"So, it's now over to our community to review the draft plan to ensure it continues to reflect the communities' vision for our area."
"We want to understand whether the goals in the Plan are still relevant, capture any changes in community sentiment and test the longevity of the plan looking out towards 2035," he said.

Submissions close 29 January.
