Draft Mayor, Councillors' Expenses Policy Exhibition

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Mayor and Councillors' Expenses and Facilities Policy 2025, which was endorsed at the 23 June Council Meeting.

This policy sets out the expenses Council will cover, and the facilities provided to support elected representatives in fulfilling their civic duties, ensuring transparency and accountability in how public funds are used.

The current total annual allocation per councillor remains unchanged, but the review introduces a redistribution of funds in the professional development and conference and seminar budget.

Council publishes all Councillor expenses twice a year in the Councillor Information section of our website. These reports show what each Councillor has claimed and what it was for.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "This policy is about ensuring our community can see exactly how public funds are being used to support their elected representatives."

"Transparency and accountability are essential for good governance, and this review reinforces our commitment to both."

You can view and provide feedback on the draft policy, with changes highlighted in red, on Council's Your Say page.

The consultation will run for 28 days until Tuesday 22 July 2025.
