Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking comment from the community after Council's Interim Administrator Mr Viv May endorsed the public exhibition of the Draft Penrose Village Park Plan of Management.
Mr May said the draft Plan of Management (PoM) would allow the community to look at options to improve the use of the site.
"Council develops Plans of Management to set out how community land is used, improved, managed and maintained," he said.
"In the case of the Penrose Village Park the existing amenities are tired, unappealing or too small," he added. "It's not surprising that the facilities are under-utilised."
The PoM covers an area 1.99 hectares in size known as the Penrose Village Park located immediately north of the Penrose Rail Station. The land is classified as General Community Use and Sportsground. Existing facilities include a hall, children's play area, public toilets, picnic facilities, tennis court and shelter.
"The aim of this Plan of Management is to provide options to the community on how this land can be re-vitalised and improved," Mr May said.
Options explored within the PoM include improvements to enable the hosting of events, workshops and concerts.
"The village of Penrose bore a heavy toll during the Black summer bushfires so improving this community space takes on greater significance," Mr May added.
"I encourage all interested residents of Penrose and the immediate surrounds to take a moment to read the document and make a submission by the close of the exhibition period."
The Interim Administrator endorsed the public exhibition of the PoM at Wednesday's Ordinary Meeting of Council.
