Drill Core Library Hosts International Guests

Latin America got hands-on with Victoria's geology at the Drill Core Library this week.

National representatives from Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Cuba, Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico, Paraguay, Guatemala and Chile were at the Geological Survey of Victoria facility on Wednesday to learn its inner workings.

Like Victoria, Latin America holds many of the resources needed for renewable energy technology.

The delegation was shown how the library stores and categorises drill core sourced from thousands of exploration sites scattered throughout the state.

They were also shown the benefits of digitising drill core data and other activities that can increase productivity across the mining sector.

The visit also highlighted Victoria's mining capabilities and opportunities for collaboration between Victoria and Latin American nations.

In Melbourne to attend the annual Australia Latin American Business Council dinner, the delegation attended the Drill Core Library with the support of Global Victoria.
