Drink driver nabbed in Caroline Springs

Caroline Springs police intercepted an alleged drunk driver more than four times the limit in Caroline Springs this morning.

The Caroline Springs van was out patrolling when they noticed a vehicle stop in the middle of a roundabout on Caroline Springs Boulevard around 3.30am.

The vehicle then allegedly used two lanes to go around the roundabout, without indicating.

Officers intercepted the driver of the white Mazda 3 sedan on Caroline Springs Boulevard.

The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old Queensland man, returned an alleged positive evidentiary breath test of .208.

His licence was immediately suspended, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1058.

He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving.

This impound forms part of Operation Roadwise, a state-wide road policing operation during the high-risk Christmas period.

Police are targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, and fatigue in high-risk areas throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Operation Roadwise runs until 11:59pm Sunday 26 December 2021.
