Driver Charged in Queanbeyan Ute Death

A driver has been charged after a woman died when she was struck by a ute in the state's Monaro region.

A 48-year-old woman was allegedly hit by a ute as she was walking along Bicentennial Drive, Jerrabomberra, near the intersection of Forest Drive, about 8.10am on Sunday 17 November 2024.

NSW Ambulance responded and commenced CPR; however, the woman died at the scene.

The 54-year-old female driver suffered broken ribs and facial injuries.

She was taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District responded and established a crime scene, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.

Following extensive inquiries, the female driver was yesterday (Monday 13 January 2024), issued with a court attendance notice for dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death). Her licence has been suspended.

She will face Queanbeyan Local Court on Friday 14 March 2025.
