A man has been arrested after a pursuit in the western suburbs.
It will be alleged that just after 1.20am today (19 January) a Ford Falcon sedan was observed by police driving erratically on Beach Road, Grange.
The car was seen to speed off and travel the wrong side of the road at the intersection of Grange and Military Road.
Police attempted to stop the car on Seaview Road where the car continued throughout numerous back streets.
The car has continued to travel south on Military Road reaching speeds of 100km/h in a 60km/h zone.
The car collided with a curb at Beach Street and Military Road where the driver ran away and police pursued him on foot.
He than ran onto the beach where he swam into the ocean.
Water Operations members were in attendance and swam out to retrieve the driver when he started to struggle.
The 28-year-old man was arrested for a number of offences including dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, hinder or resist police, refuse name and address and speed dangerous.
The man was taken to hospital for minor injuries.
The Ford has been impounded and the man will be bailed to attend court at a later stage.
