Driver dies in crash - Erin Vale

A driver has died in a crash in the state's south-west this evening.

Emergency services were called about 7pm (Monday 21 February 2022) after reports a car and truck had collided on Goldfields Way, Erin Vale, north of Junee, and were on fire.

The truck driver, a 20-year-old man, suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to Temora Hospital before being airlifted to North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.

The car driver died at the scene and is yet to be identified.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire. Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Goldfields Way is currently closed, with local diversions in place.
