Two drivers have been reported and had their cars impounded for allegedly street racing at Lonsdale last night.
A Traffic patrol was conducting speed detection on Lonsdale Road, Lonsdale about 8.30pm on Wednesday 14 July when two Holden Commodore sedan were seen travelling side by side on a double lane road.
The vehicles were detected travelling at 199 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The vehicles had to slow down as they caught up to traffic and police then stopped both cars.
It will be alleged the drivers knew each other. They both held provisional licences and each had a passenger in his vehicle.
The drivers, an 18-year-old Seaford Rise man and an 18-year-old Aldinga Beach man, were reported for aggravated engage in street race, drive at excessive speed and breaching the conditions of their provisional licence.
They will be summonsed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.
Both vehicles were impounded for 28 days and towed from the scene.
