Police have seized drugs and vehicles following a number of searches across metropolitan Adelaide earlier this week.
On Wednesday 6 March, Detectives from Serious and Organised Crime Branch and STAR Group officers conducted searches at several locations across metropolitan Adelaide.
A significant commercial sized clandestine drug laboratory was located at a Newton residential address. Precursor chemicals and equipment used in clandestine drug laboratories were located at four properties including two in Campbelltown, Klemzig and Gepps Cross.
Police seized approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine, a semi-automatic pistol, a gel blaster and Tasers. Two vehicles, an Alpha Romeo and a Mercedes Benz, were impounded and they are now subject to confiscation proceedings.
Four people were arrested including a 52-year-old man from Newton who was charged with manufacturing a controlled drug for sale. He appeared before Adelaide Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody until July.
A 53-year-old man from Campbelltown was arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled drug for sale, possessing a firearm without a licence and two counts of possessing a firearm. He appeared before Adelaide Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody until July.
A 39-year-old man from Gepps Cross was arrested and charged with manufacturing a controlled drug for sale. He appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court and was bailed to appear at a later date.
A 55-year-old man from Campbelltown was arrested on a warrant and remains in custody.
Acting Officer in Charge of Serious and Organised Crime Branch David Huddy said, "The seizures of chemicals and equipment from multiple premises during this police operation represent what police will allege is a significant drug manufacturing enterprise.
This clandestine illicit drug set up was capable of manufacturing large amounts of illicit drugs for sale in South Australia. This enterprise ceases to exist now."
