Police from the Darling Downs District, including officers from the tactical crime squad and criminal investigation branches from Toowoomba and Roma, today executed a number of search warrants across Crows Nest and Roma with police charging seven people with 26 offences, including trafficking, producing and possessing of dangerous drugs (cannabis and methylamphetamine), Queensland Police say.
A 25-year-old man Crows Nest man was charged with two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs (cannabis and methyl amphetamine) after investigations into drug supply in the Crows Nest, Toowoomba and Roma areas. Police executed a search warrant at a Three Mile Road, Crows Nest address where they allegedly located dangerous drugs. The man was also charged with four separate supply dangerous drug charges and possession of property used in the commission of a crime. He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 19, 2016.
A 23-year-old Crows Nest man was issued a notice to appear (NTA) when a search of a Crows Nest property allegedly revealed nearly half a -kilo of cannabis secreted in locations around the dwelling as well as utensils, telephones and scales. The man has been charged with supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possession of things used in the commission of a crime. He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 23, 2017.
A 61-year-old Crows Nest man has been charged with producing and possessing dangerous drugs after 16 cannabis plants were allegedly located growing on a rural property. The man was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon after a rifle was allegedly located on the property. He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 13, 2016.
Police also charged a 35-year-old Crows Nest man with possession of cannabis and possession of a utensil following a search of a property this morning. He was issued with a NTA in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 14, 2016. A 23-year-old man from a William Street address will be charged with offences relating to possession of a drug utensil and explosives act offences after gun powder was also allegedly located at the address. He will be issued with a notice to appear in the same court.
Officer charged a 52-year-old Crows Nest man with possessing dangerous drug (cannabis), possession restricted drug and two counts of possession of explosives being ammunition. The man was issued with a NTA in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 23, 2017.
Officers from the Roma Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Roma business this morning. Police will allege they located drugs (cannabis), drug utensil and related property at the business. A 66-year-old man was issued a NTA in the Roma Magistrates Court on January 10, 2017 in relation to the possession of a dangerous drug, possession of utensils, possession of property for use in a crime. A 22-year-old woman was directed to attend a drug diversion program in relation to the possession of a utensil. Investigations by detectives from Roma Criminal Investigation Branch are continuing.
Acting Senior Sergeant Peter Jenkins, Officer in Charge of the Darling Downs Tactical Crime Squad said this was the second phase of an operation focusing on drug and related criminal activity in the Crows Nest and surrounding areas.
"Today’s search warrants and charging of offenders follows on from warrants that were executed in the Crows Nest area on November 4. Our attention remains firmly on detecting and disrupting the supply of drugs in our towns and rural centres- and our investigations are continuing with more raids expected in the future," he said.

Senior Sergeant Jenkins said uniformed police from Crows Nest, Cooyar, Yarraman and Blackbutt, along with officers from the Dalby and Toowoomba Road Policing Unit conducted a targeted driving operation today, with a focus on drink driving, drug driving and traffic offences in general, with a number of drivers charged with speeding and traffic infringements, as well as unlicensed driving.
