A man has been arrested after a lengthy pursuit through the western suburbs.
Just after midnight on Saturday 18 January, police tried to stop a black Mercedes-Benz sedan travelling north on Tapleys Hill Road at Seaton.
The car sped off and turned left on to West Lakes Boulevard, then left on to Frederick Road and left on to Trimmer Parade, where it stopped at a level crossing where the boom gates were activated.
When an officer got out of their car to speak to the driver, the sedan then sped off through the boom gates and turned left on Tapleys Hill Road.
Extra patrols including PolAir were called to the area as the Mercedes sped through the western suburbs for nearly an hour.
Road spikes were used numerous times to try and stop the vehicle, including one time near the intersection of Findon Road and Hartley Road.
The car continued driving on its rims before coming to a stop in Horsley Street at Lockleys.
The driver abandoned the vehicle and was arrested soon after.
A search of the vehicle uncovered more than $50,000 cash and about 10 grams of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
The 27-year-old Findon man was charged with dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit, money laundering and trafficking a controlled drug.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
