A new MOU aims to deepen information sharing and collaboration between the DTA and ACS to reinforce digital capabilities of industry and the APS.
The Digital Transformation Agency has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Australian Computer Society (ACS). This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing the digital capabilities of the Australian Public Service (APS) and fostering collaboration between government and industry.

The ACS represents over 49,500 technology professionals across industry, government, and education. It focuses on growing digital skills and capabilities across Australia, fostering innovation and supporting members throughout their career.
'This memorandum is built on principles of collaboration, communication, and mutual benefit,' explains Chris Fechner, Chief Executive Officer, DTA.
'This arrangement seeks to strengthen cooperative and constructive exchanges of experiences and expertise deliver better outcomes for Australians through digital government services.'
The MOU outlines several key objectives, including:
- Maximising the efficient and effective usage of existing capability and investment in delivering the Australian Government's digital services.
- Being a catalyst for innovative creation and adoption of technology that benefits business, government, and society.
- Promoting the use of the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) as an industry-wide approach to digital skills classification and evaluation.
- Building world-leading capability and skills within the Australian digital workforce.
- Exploring diversity and inclusion initiatives for tech talent.
'The ACS is dedicated to ensuring Australians possess the requisite talent to propel future technological advancements,' stresses Josh Griggs, Chief Executive Officer, ACS.
'This arrangement will directly contribute to a variety of our initiatives, including professional development programs, certifications, and collaborations with educational institutions.'
This MOU is inclusive to all ACS members, DTA staff, and for the wider benefit of all data and digital professionals in the APS.
The MOU came into effect Thursday 12 December and will remain in effect for two years.
