Council is pleased to announce it will be running another 'Dump for Free' weekend in September for Leeton Shire residents. Details are as follows:
- Saturday 21 September 2024 to Sunday 22 September 2024
- 8.00am – 4.00pm
- Leeton Landfill and Recycling Centre and Whitton Transfer Station
Residents who would like to take advantage of the free entry at the Leeton and Whitton facilities on the Dump for Free weekend can dispose of general domestic waste including garden rubbish, mixed recyclables and general waste.
Please note the following conditions:
- A cap of two standard loads per household. A standard load is the equivalent of a ute/car and trailer combo, or just a ute or carload.
- Asbestos will not be accepted over the Dump for Free weekend.
- Commercial waste, tyres and mattresses will not be accepted for free.
The Dump for Free Weekend, held twice a year, aims to assist residents in discarding bulky waste responsibly and to deter illegal dumping across the Shire.
Waste & Recycling Coordinator, Guy Retallick, would also like to remind residents of the Community Recycling Centre (CRC) located at the Leeton Landfill that is available for free all year round.
"The CRC serves as a permanent drop-off facility for common household problem waste that can't be collected via council kerbside waste and recycling collection services.
"The CRC can accept paint, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, motor oils, other oil, car and household batteries, smoke detectors and Fluro globes/tubes.
"The Centre can be accessed seven days per week during operational hours," he added.
