Duo Arrested For High Range Drink Driving At Margate

Police have charged two people with high-range drink driving following a traffic crash in Margate last Saturday, November 9.

At around 7pm police were called following reports of a traffic crash on Oxley Avenue.

Police will allege, after hitting a vehicle stopped at a red traffic light, the driver reversed and then proceeded to drive forward, hitting the vehicle again at low speed.

Police will further allege the driver of the vehicle then swapped seats with the passenger after the crash and left the scene.

Police attended and conducted patrols where they then located the vehicle in a nearby park.

A female in the driver's seat, at the time of being intercepted by police, was breath tested and returned a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) result of .213 per cent.

It is alleged that at the time of the crash she was not the driver of the vehicle.

The person driving the vehicle at the time of the crash was also located in the car.

Police conducted a breath test, which returned a BAC result of 0.338 per cent, more than six times the legal limit.

A 43-year-old female from Morayfield was charged with driving under the influence and unlicensed driving.

She will appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on November 19.

A 49-year-old man from Kippa Ring was charged with driving under the influence, unlicensed driving and failing to comply with duties of a driver involved in a crash.

He will appear before Redcliffe Magistrates Court on December 17.

Thankfully, no persons were injured during the crash.
