Duo arrested on hop in Lyndhurst

Police have arrested two men after an aggravated burglary and a theft from motor vehicle overnight in Lyndhurst.

Officers responded to a report of an attempted aggravated burglary in which a man tried to enter the front door of a home on Kess Grove about 2.35am. It's believed he then stole a torch from a parked car in the driveway before the offender fled.

Twenty minutes later, police attended a Whisper Street home for an attempted burglary after a man was disturbed by a resident while trying to steal a bicycle from a garage attached to the house. The man fled on foot leaving a shoe behind.

Uniform police and a canine unit were quickly on scene and after searching the immediate area, located two men nearby, one minus a shoe.

After a short foot chase, police caught and arrested the pair near the intersection of Endeavour and Steele streets.

Two 18-year-old men from Cranbourne North are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
